DAWG BLOG No. 1
"I Believe In Miracles"

Let's get one thing straight right out of the chute -- I believe in miracles. It's a requirement to be a card-carying Georgia Bulldog football fan.

This is a huge weekend in the world of the UGA faithful. Tonight begins what has been called "the world's largest outdoor cocktail party," or as my writing idol Lewis Grizzard called it, "the annual celebration of the repeal of Prohibition." This is Georgia-Florida. Gators and Dawgs. Us and them. It is not for the faint of heart. Not to be taken lightly. And not to be experienced without a sufficient supply of alcohol.

This year, as in most years of recent memory, Georgia is coming in as a decided underdog. Florida is ranked #6 in the BCS. And after a meltdown against Tennessee and a Homecoming "mishap" against Vanderbilt, Georgia finds itself unranked for the first time in years. Florida still believes they could get a national title shot if they run the table. Georgia's still trying to find themselves.

But as the world stands today, isn't that a delicious place to be? On paper, there's no way we beat Florida. Probably can't stay within two touchdowns. But stranger things have happened. This is, Georgia-Florida after all. Cup your hand over your ear and listen. Can you hear it? Can you hear the echo? Run Lindsay. RUN Lindsay Run! RUN LINDSAY RUN! Can't you hear the furniture being destroyed all over Jacksonville?

Yes, we're down. Yes, we have a freshman quarterback. Yes, we're rebuilding. Yes, we've got matchup problems bigger than Steve Spurrier's ego. But can we win? Can we take 'em? Can we roll into Jacksonville and head back to Athens with a W? You bet your sweet ass we can. Why?

Because we believe we can. I told you. I believe in miracles.
